Squamous cell carcinoma of tongue often requires WME in the form of glossectomies. Small excisions can be repaired by the primary closure while other defects can be reconstructed by skin graft or radial forearm free flap.
Oral cancer of Tongue lateral border with midline Hemiglossectomy often requires reconstruction. Proper restoration of the size, shape and bulk of the tongue is required for proper speech and articulation, chewing and swallowing. Prevention of aspiration, dysphagia should be prevented. Radial forearm free flap can provide required bulk as well as lining for the floor of mouth.
